How to Create a Health and Prosperity Plan (and Stick to It)

Why you need to Create a Health and Prosperity Plan for 2025

Whether you scribble your ideas in a coffee-stained notebook or keep them tucked away in the corners of your mind, one thing is clear: having a health and prosperity plan is crucial—and often overlooked.

Many people glide through life without pausing to map out a vision for their well-being and success. But here’s the truth: a thriving life doesn’t just happen. It requires thoughtful planning, deliberate action, and a commitment to seeing it through.

So let’s talk about how you can create a plan for health and prosperity that actually works.

1. Start with a Vision

Every great journey begins with knowing where you’re headed. What’s your ultimate goal for health and prosperity? Is it about finding balance between work and life, building meaningful relationships, or perhaps financial independence?

Think beyond fleeting moments of happiness—aim for a big-picture vision. This clarity energizes you and provides a roadmap for the steps ahead. A strong health and prosperity plan is rooted in intention, not just impulse.

Take Sarah for example… My wife’s friend Sarah dreamed of becoming a fitness coach while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. She envisioned herself leading fitness classes in the mornings, spending afternoons with her family, and taking weekends off to travel.

Instead of vaguely hoping for “success,” Sarah actually wrote down her vision: “I want a career that keeps me active, allows me to inspire others, and gives me flexibility for family and personal growth.” This clarity motivated her to start small by first going out and earning earning a fitness certification.

2. Involve the Right People

No one truly succeeds alone. Share your aspirations with trusted friends, family, or mentors who can support your journey. They’ll provide fresh perspectives—and sometimes, that much-needed reality check.

Plus, when others know about your goals, they’ll naturally hold you accountable, nudging you forward when motivation dips. A health and prosperity plan thrives when it’s nurtured in a community of shared energy and encouragement.

What does this really look like… My buddy Clint wanted to save money to buy a house within three years. He told me about his goal and asked for my advice since we had already purchased our first home. I recommended a budgeting app and suggested speaking to our mortgage broker.

With my encouragement, Clint started tracking his spending and prioritizing savings. I checked in monthly to see his progress, giving him a sense of accountability. Clint was able to successfully save and purchase that first house.

3. Write It Down and Share It

Plans left in your head are more like dreams—they can vanish before you act on them. Write your health and prosperity plan down, complete with specific goals, timelines, and actionable steps. Then, go public!

Sharing your goals with others solidifies your commitment and pushes you to follow through. No one wants to backpedal on promises they’ve shared.

How writing your plans down and sharing actually works… One of my wife’s coworkers – Linda had always struggled to lose weight and improve her overall health. She created a detailed plan: went to the gym three times a week, cooked at home five nights a week, and drank at least eight glasses of water daily.

To stay accountable, Linda also shared her plan on social media, committing to posting updates about her progress. Her friends cheered her on, and the public commitment pushed her to stay consistent, even on tough days. In the end, Linda lost 60 pounds and has been keeping the extra weight off.

4. Treat Everyone Like a ‘Customer’

Here’s a curveball: think of everyone in your life as a customer. Not just your boss or colleagues, but your friends, family, even yourself. What kind of service are you delivering?

Are you offering respect, value, and care? This mindset transforms your interactions and enriches your relationships—a cornerstone of any health and prosperity plan.

What this can do for you…Daniel was trying to improve his personal relationships as part of his health and prosperity plan. He decided to approach his interactions with family and friends as if they were valued customers.

For example, instead of rushing through conversations with his mom, he actively listens and asks thoughtful questions. When a coworker asked for help, he made an effort to respond kindly and efficiently. Over time, these small changes deepened his relationships, making his life richer and more fulfilling.

5. Take Action and Stay Open to Change

Plans are only as good as their execution. Follow through, even when it gets tough, and be willing to adapt as life unfolds. Obstacles will arise—it’s inevitable—but a flexible health and prosperity plan allows for pivots without abandoning the core goal.

Regularly review your progress, celebrate small wins, and seek feedback to refine your approach.

A former co-worker, Manny was working on a plan to launch his own bakery. I advised him to include a plan for health and prosperity in addition to created viable business and financial plans.

He started small by selling treats at local farmers’ markets, but when competition made it difficult to stand out, he pivoted. Based on customer feedback, Manny began specializing in gluten-free and vegan baked goods—a niche market in his area. He embraced the change and saw his sales triple within six months, proving the importance of adaptability in achieving long-term goals.

Each of these examples shows how a well-crafted health and prosperity plan can translate into real-world success. With a clear vision, the right support, accountability, respectful relationships, and a willingness to adapt, you can make tangible progress toward your goals.

Creating a health and prosperity plan is the first step toward living a balanced, fulfilling life. By starting with a vision, involving the right people, documenting your goals, treating relationships with care, and committing to consistent action, you can build a framework for lasting success.
